Barak Valley registers 38 Covid +ve cases on Sunday, 58 discharged

There are 616 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

July 25: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Sunday, the number of fresh cases in the valley was considerably less. A total of 38 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 58 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 616 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Saturday, Barak Valley registered 90 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Sunday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 25 positive cases   (It was 61 on Saturday)
  • Karimganj: 08 positive cases (It was 18 on Saturday)
  • Hailakandi: 05 positive cases (It was 11 on Saturday)

A total of 25 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Sunday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 3,661 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 11 persons were found positive, whereas 14 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,880 whereas during this phase, 18,392 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 308. Also, 48 patients were discharged during the day.  The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 24 July to 5 PM on 25 July) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 25 July, there were 71 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 44 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 27 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 07 patients were put under ventilator support and 52 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 of them were discharged.

Hailakandi registered only 5 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. Of the 5 positive cases detected on Saturday, all of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas none were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 74 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 655 RAT tests and 74 RT-PCR tests were done. 01 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,754 (both 1st & 2nd wave).

As of now, a total of 4,256 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 11 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Saturday. Till date 49 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.

Karimganj registered only 8 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday. The district has currently 234 active COVID-19 cases, while 9 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Sunday. 1,235 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 18 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Saturday.

On Sunday, out of 73,507 tests, 1,054 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,58,491. The positivity rate in the state is 1.43 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 150 positive cases during the day. Further, on Sunday, 22 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 5,136. The recovery rate is 96.35 percent. On Sunday, 1,501 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,38,098 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged.  At present, there are 13,910 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 22 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 22 deceased, 06 are from Golaghat; 04 from Jorhat; 02 from Kamrup Metro, 01 each from Biswanath, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Kamrup Rural, Kokhrajhar, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 5,136.
