Barak Valley registers 356 Covid +ve cases on Friday, 430 discharged & 3 deaths recorded
There are 3,478 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 18: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Friday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 356 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 430 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 3,478 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Thursday, Barak Valley registered 340 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Friday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 194 positive cases (It was 236 on Thursday)
- Karimganj: 60 positive cases (It was 60 on Thursday)
- Hailakandi: 44 positive cases (It was 44 on Thursday)
A total of 194 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Friday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 12,726 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 128 persons were found positive, whereas 66 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 16,207, whereas during this phase, 14,289 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,763. Also, 279 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 17 June to 5 PM on 18 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 03 deceased, 02 are from Karimganj and 01 is from Cachar.
The deceased were identified as Munni Lal Ree (70) from Dullabhcherra in Karimganj, Hashma Khannan Laskar (55) from Rongpur, Silchar in Cachar district and Mashuk Ahmed (75) from Ward No 2 in Karimganj.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 18 June, there were 135 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 84 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 51 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 15 patients were put under ventilator support and 112 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 18 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 04 of them were discharged. Further, 02 of them have opted for home isolation.
Hailakandi registered 46 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. Of the 46 positive cases detected on Friday, 45 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and 01 person was found positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 646 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 3,134 RAT tests and 405 RT-PCR tests were done. 57 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,338. As of now, a total of 3,223 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 44 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Thursday.
As of now, in the 61,589 persons have received the 1st dose of the vaccine (irrespective of age), whereas, 17,901 have been administered the 2nd dose in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 116 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday. The district has currently 1,069 active COVID-19 cases, while 94 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Friday. 4,143 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 60 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Thursday.
On Friday, out of 1,71,920 tests, 3,706 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 4,77,159. The positivity rate in the state is 2.16 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 204 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 33 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,138. The recovery rate is 91.38 percent. On Friday, 4,835 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,36,043 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 35,631 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 33 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 33 deceased, 07 are from Kamrup Metro; 06 from Kamrup Rural; 02 each from Chirang, Darrang, Golaghat, Jirhat & Sonitpur; 01 each from Baksa, Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj, Kokhrajhar, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, South Salmara & Tinsukia. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,138.
