Barak Valley registers 338 positive cases on Monday
August 31: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, the number of fresh cases again increased in the valley. A total of 338 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. It needs mention here that on Sunday, Barak Valley registered 207 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 189 positive cases (It was 107 on Sunday)
- Karimganj: 71 positive cases (It was 86 on Sunday)
- Hailakandi: 78 positive cases (It was 14 on Sunday)
189 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Cachar district till 7 PM on Monday. Out of the fresh 189 positive cases, 182 were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test, whereas the rest 07 of them were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. In the last 24 hours, 2 more deaths from Cachar were registered at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). The deceased were identified as Babul Uddin Laskar (58) from Lailapool and Sabita Das (26) from Panchayat Road. However, both of these cases were certified as non-Covid deaths by the State Death Audit Boar.
Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert said, “From now onwards, if anybody wants the RT-PCR Test report within 24 hours, then he/she shall have to pay Rs.2220. Further, after discharge of patients from Covid Care Centres, vehicles will not be provided. Patients will have to manage their own vehicle for going back at home. Vehicles will be provided only for transportation of patients from other districts. Also, for those patients who wants to stay in cabins at hospitals, then he/she will have to pay for this. As regards food, some changes were made. An amount will be charged from patients who are above the BPL. However, for the BPL persons, food will continue to be free.” Further, from now onwards patients admitted in private hospitals shall have to pay the price for the kit of plasma.
From now onwards, the Drug Inspectors of Cachar District were directed to instruct all the owners of the retail pharmacies of Cachar District to enlist the name of the customers alongwith their address & contact number who come to purchase medicines like Paracetamol, Azithromycin. Further, the Senior Drug Inspector of the district was also asked to submit the compiled report of the same on daily basis from 1 September onwards.
78 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from Hailakandi district on Monday, taking the total tally to 2,340. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 78 positive cases, 37 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while 41 under RT-PCR. 709 swab samples have been found negative on Sunday.
Altogether 1,208 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 1,817 persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals.The number of active cases is 508. Six COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Nine deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board.
On Monday, 71 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Karimganj district. Out of the 71 fresh cases, 63 were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas, 08 of them tested positive in RT-PCR Test. Further, 8 persons got cured and were subsequently discharged on Monday.
Apart from this, 644 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) and 181 RT-PCR tests were done in the district. With this, till now, 2386 persons were infected with novel coronavirus. Out of them, 1523 patients were already discharged. At present, there are 845 active cases in Karimganj. In his routine media briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that 1 person from Karimganj died at SMCH in the last 24 hours. The deceased was identified as Anup Dutta (74) from Public School Road, Karimganj. He was admitted in SMCH at 6 PM on 24 August. He breathed his last at 4.15 AM on 31 August. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
Apart from the valley, a total of 3266 persons tested positive in Assam on Monday, thereby taking the state tally to 1,09,040. As of now, there are 22,273 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 1,531 patients were also discharged from across the state during the day. With this, a total of 85,458 persons were discharged in Assam. Moreover, during the day, 10 persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally to 306.
A record surge of 78,512 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours took India’s Covid tally past 36 lakh, the Union Health Ministry said this morning. An additional 971 new deaths brought the overall death count to 64,469, it said. 27,74,802 patients have recovered from the infection in the country, taking the recovery rate to 76.62 per cent. There are 7,81,975 active coronavirus cases in the country currently, which account for 21.59 per cent of the total caseload, the Union Health Ministry data showed.
