Barak Valley registers 191 positive cases on Monday

August 3: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, the number of fresh cases again increased in the valley. A total of 191 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Monday, Barak Valley registered 136 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 105 positive cases (It was 78 on Sunday)
  • Karimganj: 55 positive cases (It was 29 on Sunday)
  • Hailakandi: 31 positive cases (It was 29 on Sunday)

With 105 new cases of COVID-19 positive on Monday, Cachar recorded a total of 1937 cases of coronavirus as of now. A large number of positive cases on Monday were detected through contact tracing. Apart from this, cases on account of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) were also also found during the day.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results 26 persons tested positive in Cachar district on Monday. Among them, three are from Salgangapar, 3 from Laboc Assam Rifles Camp, 2 from Chandrapur-III, 14 of them from Kalain Community Health Centre (CHC). In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, 19 persons were detected coronavirus positive in Cachar on Monday. Four persons working in SMCH tested positive during the day. The 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test, contained information of 16 positive cases detected on Monday. Out of them, 6 were detected positive from S.P. Office, Silchar. They are asymptomatic but came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case. Another 36-year-old female was found positive from near Apanjan Pally, Sonai Road. A 58-year-old male from P.I. Court, Cachar was also tested positive. Further, there were positive cases from Link Road, Rongpur, Kazidohar, Meherpur, Borjalenga and 6th AP Battalion. The rest 44 came out to be positive as per Raped Antigen Test (RAT).

On Monday, 31 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from Hailakandi district, taking the total tally to 1037. Health authorities here disclosed that of the 31 positive cases detected on Monday, 30 cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). A total of 214 cases have been found positive under RAT so far with majority of them without travel history. Eight persons on being cured have been discharged from hospitals on Monday, taking the total number of persons released to 827.The number of active cases in the district is currently 204.

Karimganj district registered a biggest spike of  55 COVID-19 positive cases on Monday. This takes the district tally to 830. Apart from this, 08 persons were discharged in Karimganj. Till now, 501 patients were cured and discharged.

Apart from the valley, a total of 2371 persons tested positive in Assam on Monday, thereby taking the state tally to 45,275. As of now, there are 11,735 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 1044 patients were also discharged from across the state during the day. With this, a total of 33,428 persons were discharged in Assam. Moreover, during the day, 4 persons died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally to 109.
