Barak Valley registers 145 positive cases on Monday
July 20: The number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Monday, a total of 145 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley. Further, a total of 42 patients were discharged from the three districts of Barak Valley on Monday. In view of spike in number of COVID-19 positive cases in Cachar district, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika reviewed the present situation with the District Officials in the conference hall of DC’s office, Silchar. The Minister also visited Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) and SM Dev Civil Hospital to take stock of the situation there. He interacted with the officials and health functionaries and directed them to provide the best of medical care and treatment to the COVID-19 patients.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday:
- Cachar: 94 positive cases
- Karimganj: 11 positive cases
- Hailakandi: 40 positive cases
Apart from the valley, the state too recorded a huge number of positive cases of Monday. 1093 persons tested positive in Assam on Monday, thereby taking the state tally to 25,092. As of now, there are 7936 active cases in the state. Meanwhile, 1072 patients were also discharged from across the state during the day. With this, a total of 17,095 persons were discharged in Assam. Moreover, during the day, one person died due to COVID-19 in Assam, thereby taking the death tally to 58.
