Barak Valley registers 132 Covid +ve cases on Wednesday, 313 discharged & 1 death at SMCH
There are 1,404 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
June 30: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. On Wednesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased. A total of 132 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 313 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 1,404 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, Barak Valley registered 122 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Wednesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 85 positive cases (It was 65 on Tuesday)
- Karimganj: 39 positive cases (It was 48 on Tuesday)
- Hailakandi: 08 positive cases (It was 09 on Tuesday)
A total of 85 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Wednesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 2,356 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 56 persons were found positive, whereas 29 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,596, whereas during this phase, 16,796 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 633. Also, 147 patients were discharged during the day. Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley for more than a month with a gap of two days in between. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 29 June to 5 PM on 30 June) witnessed demise of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). The detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as:
- Sanjay Mahaldar (74) from Second Link Road in Silchar, Cachar was admitted at SMCH on 29 June. He however, passed away at 5.30 AM on 30 June.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 30 June, there were 128 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 51 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 77 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 08 patients were put under ventilator support and 82 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 25 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 33 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered only 08 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 08 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 05 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 03 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 163 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,219 RAT tests and 277 RT-PCR tests were done. 39 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,505 (both 1st & 2nd wave). As of now, a total of 3,923 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 09 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday.
Karimganj registered 39 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The district has currently 608 active COVID-19 cases, while 127 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Wednesday. 3,275 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 48 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, out of 91,452 tests, 2,672 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,08,484. The positivity rate in the state is 2.71 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 137 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 30 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. The recovery rate is 93.91 percent. On Wednesday, 3,053 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,77,510 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 25,088 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 30 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 30 deceased, 04 are from Barpeta; 03 each from Jorhat, Karbi Anglong & Sivasagar; 02 each from Chirang, Kamrup Metro, Nagaon & Tinsukia; 01 each from Cachar, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Morigaon & Sonitpur. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,539.
