Barak Valley registers 115 Covid +ve cases on Wednesday, 114 discharged & 1 death reported
There are 922 active Covid cases in Barak Valley
July 7: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. However, on Wednesday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased again. A total of 115 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 114 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 922 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, Barak Valley registered 98 positive cases.
Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Wednesday in Barak Valley:
- Cachar: 69 positive cases (It was 62 on Tuesday)
- Karimganj: 33 positive cases (It was 21 on Tuesday)
- Hailakandi: 13 positive cases (It was 15 on Tuesday)
A total of 69 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Wednesday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 2,227 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 40 persons were found positive, whereas 29 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 17,999, whereas during this phase, 17,414 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 413. Also, 63 patients were discharged during the day. The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 6 July to 5 PM on 7 July) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). His detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board.This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening. The deceased from cachar district was identified as:
- Sunahar Ali (65) from Paikhan, Katigorah in Cachar district was admitted at SMCH on 1 July. The patient, however, passed away at 7.15 PM on 6 July.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 7 July, there were 102 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 48 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 54 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 10 patients were put under ventilator support and 70 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 09 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 15 of them were discharged.
Hailakandi registered 13 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Of the 13 positive cases detected on Wednesday, 12 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas 01 person was detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 103 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,267 RAT tests and 334 RT-PCR tests were done. 14 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,575 (both 1st & 2nd wave). As of now, a total of 4,050 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 15 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.
Karimganj registered 33 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The district has currently 406 active COVID-19 cases, while 37 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Wednesday. 2,908 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 21 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, out of 1,01,729 tests, 2,289 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,24,556. The positivity rate in the state is 2.25 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 181 positive cases during the day. Further, on Wednesday, 26 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,743. The recovery rate is 94.64 percent. On Wednesday, 3,136 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 4,96,442 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged. At present, there are 22,024 active cases in the state.
Further, during the day, 26 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 26 deceased, 05 are from Sivasagar; 03 each are from Barpeta, Golaghat & Kamrup Metro; 02 each from Charaideo, Goalpara & Hojai; 01 each from Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Morigaon & Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,743.
