Assuming charge, new DC of Hailakandi inspects quarantine facilities
'No room for complacency; administration to remain prepared for worst case scenario': Megha Nidhi Dahal
May 9: New Deputy Commissioner, Megha Nidhi Dahal inspected the quarantine facility at DIET and other isolation wards on Saturday. Taking over the reins of the administration in the morning, DC, Dahal visited the institutional quarantine facility set up at DIET, isolation wards and institutional quarantine facilities at different parts of the district and inspected the arrangements out there.
Dahal said though Hailakandi district is in the green zone as of now, there is no ground for complacency as the administration has to to be prepared for the worst case scenario. “There is no room for complacency as it (COVID-19) cannot happen here. We have to be prepared for the worst case scenario,” he said, adding that the district has to utilise its wherewithal to the best capacity to deal with any exigency.
He said that inter-district sealing of border is not done as only the movement of vehicles and people is not permitted inside the containment zones. However, Dahal said that the administration may have to take steps to seal the border if the need arises as per the containment protocol guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Government of Assam. The new Deputy Commissioner sought the support and cooperation of the people in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Dahal was accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Vikram Dev Sarma, Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Health, EL Faihraem and health functionaries.
