Assamese to be made compulsory in all private & govt schools till class X with exception
Barak valley can opt for Bangla & Bodo in BTC
June 7: Assamese will be made a compulsory subject for students of all classes in Assam from Class I to X. However, students in Barak Valley can opt for Bengali and students from BTC can opt for Bodo language instead of Assamese. This was informed in a press briefing addressed by State Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday. He further stated that the Governor has approved this decision taken by the state government.
The minister further stated that, “We’re pleased to launch a unique program #VidyaDaan which shall serve as a platform for anyone to donate knowledge on any subject. This shall be hosted as e-content for children of class-1 to 12 to ensure continuity of quality learning across the country.”
