Assam University Science Departments Celebrate ‘Scientia 4.0′
Way2Barak, February 8 : The annual STEM fest ‘Scientia’ saw its fourth iteration begin today at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium in Assam University, Silchar and will continue till 9th February. Scientia is a cumulative effort comprising six schools of the university with a total participation of 12 departments.
Several sports events have been conducted in the past two weeks, and today marks the beginning of the scientific and technical sessions of the event. Mr. Ramchandra Kowligi, Founder Trustee, SPM Trust, Bangaluru; and Dr. Ferdous Barbhuyan, Associate Dean, IIIT, Guwahati were the chief guests of the inaugural event, and delivered invited talks in the event.
The welcome adress was presented by the General Secretary of Scientia_4.0 Mr. Bhaskar Goswami. The event was chaired by the honourable Vice Chancellor of Assam University and Chief Patron of the event, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, accompanied by Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Registrar; Prof. C.R. Bhattacharya, Chief Advisor; Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das, Teacher Coordinator; Dr. Panna Deb, Teacher Coordinator; and Mr. Samim Barbhuyan, President, Scientia 4.
The ongoing events comprise contributed talks and poster presentations by the research scholars of Assam University, and cultural events at the end of the day. Today’s event was hosted by Mr. Anshuman Baruah and Miss Gulafsha B. Choudhury, Department of Physics. The vote of thanks was offered by Miss Gitanjali Pradhani.
An invited talk on “Observing facility in India and around the world” was presented by Dr. Biman Jyoti Medhi in the Aryabhatta Observatory, Department of Physics, Assam University, Silchar. He also emphasized how 14 inches Telescope located at Observatory can be used for scientific observation. The students and researchers of Department of Physics will be benefitted from this facility.
The Chief Guest of this Fest is the hon’ble Vice Chancellor of NEHU Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla who will join tomorrow and deliver keynote address.
