Assam University reschedules summer vacation for colleges & varsity from 22 May to 20 June
University classes (physical class room coaching) shall remain suspended until further order
May 04: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and subsequent nationwide lockdown has brought life to a standstill. All educational institutions are closed since the mid of March, 2020. While the 3rd phase of lockdown is still going on with much relaxation for the green zones, Assam University, Silchar has come up with a new notification. The notification issued by the Registrar in-charge of the university on 4 May stated that, “Summer break for Academic Departments of the University and permitted/ affiliated Colleges of the University is rescheduled from 22nd May 2020 to June 20, 2020 in supersession of the Holiday List 2020 notified vide No. 133/7/94 -Pers(part) /611-811 dated November 2019.”
Certain other guidelines specifically for the University were also stated in this notification. All Deans/ HoDs may attend Office/ Department henceforth as per the official requirement of the School/Department. Further HoDs may permit other teaching/ non-teaching staff of the respective Department to attend office as per necessity. All Group B officers (of the University) and above working in main Administrative Block, Examination Department, Library and other essential services were directed to regularly attend office henceforth.
Concerned controlling officers (Statutory officers/JR/DR/AR/SO etc) may call other staff in office for work as per requirement in the concerned section. However, Female employees with children below 5 years are not to attend office. The order also stated that visitors will not be allowed to enter into the campus until further notice.
As regards academic activities, the order stated that University classes (physical class room coaching) shall remain suspended until further order. No students/ research scholars from outside the campus are allowed to enter into campus without prior permission from the competent authority. However, limited permission for research in wet laboratory may be provided on the basis of need. Permission, if required may be obtained from the Vice-Chancellor.
University buses will ply to ferry the employees at 9.15 AM from E&D Colony and Vivekananda Road and 9.30 AM from Rangirkhari point. Office hour shall close at 4 PM during lockdown period.
