সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষার প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে বিশেষ বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠান আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১০ আগস্ট : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের উদ্যোগে শনিবার এক বিশেষ বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠান আয়োজিত হয়। বিষয় ছিল ‘সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হওয়ার জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় প্রস্তুতিমূলক দক্ষতা’। এতে আমন্ত্রিত অতিথি বক্তা হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন হাইলাকান্দি জেলার নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট তথা সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র কিষাণ চোরেই ত্রিপুরা। এই বিশেষ বক্তৃতানুষ্ঠান আয়োজনের লক্ষ্য ছিল শিক্ষার্থীদের সিভিল সার্ভিস সহ অন্যান্য প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষার প্রস্তুতির জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা, মানসিকতা ও কৌশল সম্পর্কে অনুপ্রাণিত করা এবং নির্দেশনা দেওয়া।

বিভাগীয় কনফারেন্স হলে আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে এসিএস কিষাণ চোরেই ত্রিপুরাকে উত্তরীয় ও ফুলের তোড়া দিয়ে সম্মানিত করেন ড. অদিতি নাথ ও ড. রত্না হুইরেম। শুভেচ্ছা স্মারক প্রদান করেন অধ্যাপক শুভব্রত দত্ত। প্রাসঙ্গিক বক্তব্য পেশ করেন অধ্যাপক এম. গঙ্গাভূষণ, অধ্যাপক এম. তিনেশ্বরী দেবী, ড. মৃত্যুঞ্জয় সিং প্রমুখ। তাঁরা কিষাণ চোরেই ত্রিপুরার ছাত্রাবস্থার কিছু স্মরণীয় ঘটনার কথা স্মরণ করেন।

কিষাণ চোরেই ত্রিপুরা শিক্ষার্থীদের উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জানিয়ে ও সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে তার বক্তব্য শুরু করেন। ‘ব্যাকবেঞ্চার’ হয়েও কীভাবে জীবনের প্রতিটি ধাপে এগিয়ে গেছেন তাও উল্লেখ করেন। তিনি বলেন, প্রত্যেকের মধ্যেই সুপ্ত ক্ষমতা রয়েছে, শুধু সঠিক মনোভাব নিয়ে এই সুপ্ত মনোভাব জাগিয়ে তুলতে হবে। তিনি করিমগঞ্জের জওহরলাল নেহরু বিদ্যালয় থেকে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকর্ম বিভাগে পাঁচ বছর পূর্ণ করা পর্যন্ত তার শিক্ষাজীবনের যাত্রা ভাগ করে নেন। সেইসঙ্গে জানান কীভাবে দীর্ঘ প্রস্তুতির মাধ্যমে সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষায় সাফল্য অর্জন করেন।

এদিন তিনি সিভিল সার্ভিস পরীক্ষার ওপর মনোযোগ দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি অন্যান্য সরকারি পরীক্ষার প্রস্তুতির জন্যও পড়ুয়াদের উৎসাহিত করেন। কঠোর পরিশ্রম, প্রস্তুতি, পরিকল্পনা, সংকল্প ও সর্বোপরি সাফল্য অর্জনে সততার গুরুত্বের ওপর জোর দেন। পাশাপাশি শিক্ষার্থীদের সরাসরি উত্তর দেওয়া, অপ্রয়োজনীয় অতিরিক্ত ব্যাখ্যা এড়ানো ও অতিরিক্ত জটিল ক্ষেত্রগুলি অনুসন্ধান করা থেকে বিরত থাকতে সংযম বজায় রাখার পরামর্শ দেন। তিনি এদিন এও বলেন, সৎ থাকা আত্মবিশ্বাস বাড়ায় ও চাপ কমায়।

তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের অনুপ্রাণিত করার জন্য তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত অনুপ্রেরণা, ক্রীড়াবিদ অরুণিমা সিনহার কথা উল্লেখ করেন, যিনি দুর্ঘটনায় পা হারানোর পরও মাউন্ট এভারেস্টে আরোহণ করেন। বলেন, শারীরিক সীমাবদ্ধতা একজনের সম্ভাবনাকে কখনও সংজ্ঞায়িত করে না, এটি সম্পূর্ণরূপে নিষ্ঠার ওপর নির্ভর করে। বক্তৃতার পর তিনি পড়ুয়াদের সঙ্গে প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্বেও অংশ নেন। শেষে ধন্যবাদ সূচক বক্তব্য রাখেন বিভাগীয় প্রধান অধ্যাপক তরুণ বিকাশ সুকাই।

way2barak, August 10 : The Department of Social Work, Assam University, Silchar, organised a special lecture on “Essential Preparatory Skills for Cracking Civil Service Examination” on 9th August. The invited guest speaker, Mr. Kishan Chorei Tripura, ACS, Executive Magistrate of Hailakandi District, is an esteemed alumnus of the department of Social Work. The session aimed to motivate and guide students on the necessary skills, mindset, and strategies required to prepare for civil services and other competitive examinations.

The program commenced with a warm welcome to the guest by the faculty members. Prof. Aditi Nath and Prof. Ratna Huirem felicitated the guest with a traditional gamcha and a bouquet, respectively, followed by Prof. Subhabrata Dutta presented a token of appreciation in the form of a plaque. Several faculty members, including Prof. M. Gangabushan, Prof. M. Tineshwari Devi, and Prof. Mrityunjay Singh, shared welcoming words, recalling memorable experiences with the guest during his student days. Prof. M. Tineshwari Devi described the speaker as an average but humble student who was also a good dancer. Prof. Mrityunjay Singh recalled a personal moment highlighting the guest’s humility, noting that even after achieving success, he remained grounded. Following these welcome speeches, the special lecture commenced.

Mr. Kishan Chorei Tripura began his address by warmly greeting the students as “brothers and sisters” and expressing gratitude to the Department of Social Work for inviting him to interact with them. Reflecting on his student life, he humorously mentioned being a “backbencher” and appreciated the unique learning experiences that come from such a position. He motivated every student by emphasising that everyone has ability, it is all about having the right spirit. He shared his academic journey from Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyalaya, Karimganj, to completing five years in the Department of Social Work at Assam University, followed by years of dedicated preparation that led to his success in the civil service examination. Engaging with students, he asked about their career interests and explained how the multidisciplinary nature of social work benefits civil service preparation. It allows candidates to choose optional papers such as Sociology, Public Administration, Anthropology, Psychology, Political Science, and History. While focusing on the civil service exam, he also encouraged preparation for other government examinations, noting that the UPSC syllabus provides a strong foundation for them.

To motivate the audience, he narrated personal anecdotes from his university days, including a story about unexpectedly facing an internal test and answering questions based on his prior school learning. He highlighted that social work, with its multi-dimensional approach, can be more adaptable and easier to grasp compared to certain other courses, provided students remain consistent in their efforts. He stressed the importance of hard work, preparation, planning, determination, and, above all, honesty in achieving success. He also shared interview strategies, advising students to answer straightforwardly, avoid unnecessary over-explanations, and maintain composure to prevent examiners from probing into overly complex areas.

He emphasised that being honest boosts self-confidence and reduces stress. To inspire the students, Mr. Kishan Chorei Tripura spoke about his personal inspiration, Arunima Sinha, a sportsperson who, despite losing a leg in an accident, became the first amputee to climb Mount Everest. Her story served as a powerful reminder that physical limitations do not define one’s potential, it is all about dedication. He also discussed important skills for students, including communication, persuasive communication, and self-awareness. To demonstrate the value of persuasive communication, he conducted an activity where students were asked to sell a pen, illustrating how convincing skills play a role in professional success.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer round. Students raised several queries, including how to maintain motivation despite setbacks, whether it is too late to start UPSC preparation later in their academic journey, and the importance of having a “Plan B.” The speaker addressed these questions by emphasizing the need to create a motivating environment to remain consistent, believe in oneself rather than relying solely on coaching centres or worrying about starting late, and always keep alternative career plans in mind for mental well-being.
