Assam University Concludes Training Programme on Teachers’ Mental Health
শিক্ষকদের মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য নিয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৫ ডিসেম্বর : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের উদ্যোগে ও ইউজিসি–এমএমটিটিসি’র সহায়তায় “ভারতের উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষকদের মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য” শীর্ষক অনলাইন স্বল্পমেয়াদি প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচি সম্পন্ন হল। এক সপ্তাহের এই কর্মসূচিতে জম্মু-কাশ্মীর থেকে কেরল, গুজরাট থেকে নাগাল্যান্ড, ২০টিরও বেশি রাজ্য ও কেন্দ্রশাসিত অঞ্চল থেকে অধ্যাপক-অধ্যাপিকারা অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

প্রসঙ্গত, গত ৮ ডিসেম্বর এই প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচির আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ। এ উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে মূল বিষয়ের ওপর বক্তব্য পেশ করেন আসাম ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কলেজের প্রাক্তন অধ্যাপক অধ্যাপক অরূপ কুমার মিশ্র। তিনি ‘ডিজিটাল ইন্ডিয়ায় উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য: একটি উদীয়মান সংকট’ বিষয়ের উপর আলোকপাত করেন।

এই প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচিতে শিক্ষক-বার্নআউট, শিক্ষার্থীদের মানসিক সংকটে হস্তক্ষেপ, মনোসামাজিক প্রয়োজন, উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলের অভিবাসী শিক্ষার্থীদের মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য, লিঙ্গ বিষয়ক দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি, আইনি কাঠামো ও মানসিক সুস্থতার স্নায়ুবিজ্ঞানসহ নানা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় অন্তর্ভুক্ত ছিল। সমাজবিজ্ঞান, মানববিদ্যা ও প্রাকৃতিক বিজ্ঞানের বিভিন্ন শাখার বিশেষজ্ঞরা এতে অংশ নেন।

গত শনিবার আয়োজিত সমাপ্তি অনুষ্ঠানে অন্যদের উপস্থিত ছিলেন এমএমটিসিসির ডিরেক্টর অধ্যাপক আর. বালাকৃষ্ণন, ডেপুটি ডিরেক্টর অধ্যাপক অজয় কুমার সিং, সমাজকর্ম বিভাগের প্রধান অধ্যাপক তরুণ বিকাশ সুকাই প্রমুখ। ছিলেন প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মসূচির দুই সমন্বয়কারী ড. রত্না হুইরেম ও ড. কাথিরেসন এল.।

Way2barak, December 15 : Assam University, through its Department of Social Work and with the support of the UGC–MMTTC, successfully conducted a one-week online Short-Term Training Programme titled “Mental Health of Teachers in Higher Education Institutions in India.” The programme witnessed the participation of professors and academicians from more than 20 states and Union Territories, ranging from Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala and from Gujarat to Nagaland.

The training programme was formally inaugurated on December 8 by the Vice-Chancellor of Assam University, Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant. On the occasion, the keynote address was delivered by former Professor of Assam Engineering College, Prof. Arup Kumar Mishra, who spoke on “Mental Health in Higher Education Institutions in Digital India: An Emerging Crisis.”

The programme covered a wide range of important themes, including teacher burnout, intervention in students’ mental health crises, psychosocial needs, mental health of migrant students from the North-East, gender perspectives, legal frameworks, and the neuroscience of mental well-being. Experts from diverse disciplines such as social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences contributed to the sessions.

The valedictory session, held last Saturday, was attended by Director of MMTTC Prof. R. Balakrishnan, Deputy Director Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, Head of the Department of Social Work Prof. Tarun Bikash Sukai, among others. The programme was coordinated by Dr Ratna Huirem and Dr Kathiresan L.
