Assam University Celebrates International Youth Day with Creative and Engaging Activities
আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবসে পোস্টার ও ক্যুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১২ আগস্ট : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের রেড রিবন ক্লাব ও এনএসএস সেলের যৌথভাবে মঙ্গলবার বিভিন্ন প্রতিযোগিতা ও সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবস পালিত হল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে। এই কর্মসূচি আয়োজনে সহায়তায় ছিল আসাম রাজ্য এইডস নিয়ন্ত্রণ সমিতি (এএসএসিএস) এবং রাজ্য সরকারের স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ বিভাগ।

এদিন প্রথম অনুষ্ঠান ছিল বেলা আড়াইটেয়। এনএসএস সেলে আয়োজিত হয় এইচআইভি/এইডস সচেতনতা সম্পর্কিত পোস্টার তৈরি প্রতিযোগিতা।বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সহ বিভিন্ন কলেজ ও কেন্দ্রীয় বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা এতে অংশগ্রহণ করেন। প্রতিযোগিতার বিষয়বস্তু ছিল এইচআইভি সচেতনতা, প্রতিরোধ, সহায়তা ও পরীক্ষা সম্পর্কে শক্তিশালী, ইতিবাচক বার্তার ওপর আলোকপাত করা।

স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এনএসএস সেল এবং রেড রিবন ক্লাবের প্রোগ্রাম কো-অর্ডিনেটর অধ্যাপক এম গঙ্গাভূষণ। প্রাসঙ্গিক বক্তব্য রাখেন প্রতিযোগিতার জুরি সদস্যরাও। বক্তারা এইচআইভি প্রতিরোধ, প্রাথমিক পরীক্ষা ও চিকিৎসা সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে যুবাদের অংশগ্রহণের ওপর জোর দেন। প্রতিযোগিতার জুরি সদস্য ছিলেন অধ্যাপক নির্মল কান্তি রায়, ড. রাজন বৈদ্য, ড. মৃত্যুঞ্জয় কুমার সিং, ড. অজিতা তিওয়ারি ও অধ্যাপক মুস্তাফিজুর রহমান।

সন্ধ্যায় আয়োজিত হয় এইচআইভি/এইডস সম্পর্কিত অনলাইন কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা। কুইজ পরিচালনা করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাক্তন এনএসএস স্বেচ্ছাসেবক শুভময় চন্দ। প্রসঙ্গত, আন্তর্জাতিক যুব দিবসের চূড়ান্ত অনুষ্ঠান সহ পুরস্কার বিতরণী পর্ব আয়োজিত হবে আগামী ১৯ আগস্ট।

way2barak, August 12 : The Red Ribbon Club and the NSS Cell of Assam University jointly celebrated International Youth Day with a vibrant programme of competitions and awareness activities, supported by the Assam State AIDS Control Society, Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Assam. The celebration aimed to inspire youth engagement in social awareness, particularly focusing on HIV prevention, testing, and support.

The first event of the day was an Offline Poster Making Competition on HIV/AIDS Awareness at the NSS Cell at 2:30 PM. Students from Assam University, its affiliated colleges, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Assam University, participated enthusiastically. The theme of the competition was HIV Awareness, with a focus on strong, positive messages about prevention, support, and testing.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, marking the formal inauguration of the day’s events. Prof. Gangabhushan M. Molankal, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell and Red Ribbon Club, Assam University, hosted the event and delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings. This was followed by inaugural speeches by the Jury members that emphasised the theme of the poster-making competition, encouraging participants to blend creativity with a strong public health message.

The jury for the competition comprised Prof. Nirmal Kanti Roy, Dr. Rajan Vaidya, Dr. Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, Dr. Ajita Tiwari & Prof. Mustafiz Rahman. They evaluated the posters based on creativity, clarity of message, visual appeal, and adherence to the theme. The posters featured innovative use of the red ribbon as the universal symbol of HIV awareness, alongside impactful images and concise, accessible language. This activity not only showcased the artistic talents of the youth but also highlighted their commitment to championing public health causes.

Later in the evening, an Online Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS was held, drawing active participation from students eager to test their knowledge on HIV awareness and youth-related issues. The Quiz was hosted by Mr. Shubhamay Chanda, former NSS Volunteer of Assam University. The celebrations will culminate with the final programme on 19thAugust 2025, which will see the participation of students and faculty members from the affiliated colleges of Assam University. This concluding event is expected to further strengthen the network of youth advocates for HIV awareness and prevention in the region.
