Assam to soon get its State Emblem, committee formed to finalise it
Feb. 2: In the weekly Assam Cabinet on 2 February, several key decisions pertaining to providing land to the underprivileged, improving road infrastructure, funds for land acquisition for Jorhat Airport expansion & construction of Tamulpur Medical College, finilasation of state Emblem etc., among others were taken. The Cabinet Meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Till date there was no State Emblem of Assam. It is in this connection that the Cabinet constituted a Cabinet Committee headed by Ministers Dr. Ranoj Pegu & Shri Keshab Mahanta for finalisation of State Emblem to create a distinctive symbol that will signify and visually represent Assam. This committee will take a decision on the State Emblem as per the suggestions of the people of Assam.
