Assam registers its 3rd corona death
May 18: A patient of cancer who returned from Mumbai recently was infected with COVID-19. The 71-year old person died on Monday morning at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. This takes the death tally of the state owing to coronvirus to a total of three.
Sharing this information, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Extremely sad to share that Gopindra Ch Malakar 71, who returned from Mumbai & had neck cancer + Covid + passed away at 11.05 am at GMCH owing to respiratory distress. Doctors did their best. DME has reached & DC informed for other formalities.”

The total number of COVID-19 patients in Assam stands at 102. Out of this, 3 persons have died and 2 were migrated. 41 of them were already discharged. This means that at present, there are a total of 56 active cases in Assam.
