Assam registers 8 more deaths due to COVID-19, tally rises to 242

August 23: Another 8 persons in Assam lost their lives due to novel coronavirus. With this, the death tally of the state due to COVID-19 has now gone upto 242. This was confirmed in a tweet by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The 8 deceased were identified as:

• Ranjit Kr Dutta (74) from Karimganj
• Arun Thakuria (63) & Om Prakash Sharma (56), Kamrup Rural
• Durga Bhahadur Sonar (48) & Sunil Kr Fogla (85) from Dibrugarh
• Prafulla Deka (53) from Nalbari
• Malai Basumatary (48) from Baksa
• Khagen Pandit(65) from Hojai
