Assam registers 6 more COVID-19 deaths including Kanu Paul from Cachar, tally reaches 121

August 5: Another 6 persons died in Assam on Wednesday due to COVID-19. Out of the six, one person is from Cachar district. The deceased was identified as 56-years-old Kanu Paul. As per sources in Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), the deceased Kanu Paul is from Dholai in Cachar and took admission at SMCH with severe COVID-19 symptoms including T2DM and HTN on 28 July, 2020. As his condition became critical, so he was shifted to COVID ICU of SMCH on 29 July. He was on ventilator with maximum support from 29 July. His condition was critical throughout. Finally, he breathed his last on 4 August, 2020 at around 4 PM.

His case was then referred to the State Death Audit Board. On Wednesday, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet informed that Kanu Paul (56) died due to COVID-19. With this, the death tally of Cachar district has now gone upto 06.

The other 5 persons from Assam who succumbed to COVID-19 on Wednesday are  Ramesh Chandra Medhi (81) from Kamrup Metro, Ram Kumar Mahato (58) & Late Tarini Charan Kalita (60) from Dibrugarh, Late Badal Debnath (56) from Tinsukia and Lalbhanu Khatoon (35) from Darrang. The death tally of Assam reached 121 on Wednesday.
