Assam Police rescues 4 girls from attempted human trafficking, 1 arrested
June 12: Four girls from Paneri of Udalguri in Assam suspected to be victims of attempted human trafficking were rescued from Baihata on Saturday by the state Police. Informing this in a tweet, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that Assam Police has nabbed one of the accused, Giyas Ali (32 yrs), S/O Late Sumed Ali, 1 No. Baruahjhar, PS: Panery in this connection. Interrogation is on so that another accused may be apprehended, informed the Chief Minister. A case has been registered at Paneri PS vide PNY PS Case No. 50/21 u/s 366 (a)/ 370 IPC r/w Sec 14 of Child Labour Act. The Chief Minister offered compliment to the Assam Police for prompt action.
