Assam govt starts helpline to bring back stranded students from other states by bus
Subsidy of max ₹5000 also to be given to students to cover travel cost
May 7: The Assam government has already initiated process to bring back stranded students from various parts of the state. Recently, students from Kota and other parts of Rajasthan came to Assam hiring buses, the expenditure for which was borne by the parents. However, addressing a press briefing on Thursday, State health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Assam government has launched a new helpline to bring back the students stranded in various parts of the country. The minister said that the students shall form a group and call in the helpline no. 1800-345-3522 or tweet at #assamstudenthelpdesk. After proper intimation either in the helpline or tweeter, the state government will then allow them to start their travel in a group.
In this regard, the minister further announced that the state government will give a subsidy of maximum Rs.5000 to each student travelling from West or South India to Assam, those coming from North or Delhi will get per head Rs. 3000 and students who will come from East Zone will be given a subsidy of Rs. 2000 each. He said with this money they can pay a part of the payment for the bus journey, while the remanding amount should be borne by their parents.
