Assam govt announces summer vacation for educational institutions from 1 May to 31 May

May 7: The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has been a major source of loss for the teaching- learning process. All educational institutions are shut since the mid of May. During the ongoing phase of Lockdown 3.0, the schools and colleges will continue to remain shut at least till 17 May, if it is not further extended. As such, in order to save the academic year, Assam government has notified that summer vacation will be declared in the educational institutions of the state from 1 May to 31 May, 2020. this was stated by Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing held in Guwahati on Thursday.

The minister also stated that similar steps of revamping the vacation schedule was also done by states like Delhi and Rajasthan. Earlier, summer vacation used to be given in July. Some other measures like extending the academic year till 31 March was also proposed by minister, though no concrete decision was arrived at in this regard.
