Assam gets a new district; Bajali becomes 34th district of the state
Jan. 13: Bajali sub-division in Assam has bee elevated to the status of a district. A notification to this effect was issued by the Govenor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi on Tuesday. With this, Bajali has become the 34th full-fleged district of Assam. Bajali was earlier under Barpeta district.
Today is a great day for the people of Bajali subdivision as formal notification declaring it as a district has been issued.
I congratulate the people on this occasion. I believe this will pave way for faster development of the educational and cultural hub of Assam.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote, ““Today is a great day for the people of Bajali subdivision as formal notification declaring it as a district has been issued.
