Assam gets 1.5 lakh doses of Covishield for 45+ & 35,990 doses of Covaxin for 18 to 44 years
June 13: Even a few days ago, an atmosphere of tension prevailed in the state among those who had taken the 1st dose of Covaxin and were anxiously waiting for their 2nd dose. However, reports about shortage in the supply of Covaxin became a major cause of concern for these people. Putting an end to all such apprehensions, state Health Minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet informed that Assam has received 35,990 doses of Covaxin for the age group 18 to 44 years.

Keshab Mahanta said the Health Department is now focussing more on administering the second dose to people in the 18-44 years category. He further said that the government will be able to administer the second dose of Covaxin to 1.92 lakh people in the 18-44 years category within the stipulated time frame.

Meanwhile, the state Health Minister informed that Assam has received 1,50,000 doses of Covishield vaccine for all citizens 45 years and above on Saturday. The minister also asserted that the state government has formed 2,000 teams to vaccinate three lakh people in the state every day.
