Assam cabinet recommends not to conduct HSLC & HS exams due to Covid situation: CM

Final decision in this matter to be taken on 18 June after meeting with stakeholders

June 16: Amid great unrest and tension among the students as regards the conduct of the postponed HSLC and HS Examinations by SEBA and AHSEC, a major decision was taken on Wednesday by the State Cabinet. The Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma took the significant decision of not conducting the HSLC and HS exams amidst the prevailing situation.

Taking to his twitter handle, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “It was recommended by the Cabinet not to allow the exams due to prevailing #COVID19 pandemic. Final decision regarding HSLC, High Madrassa and HS final year examinations will be taken on June 18 in a meeting between Edu Dept & various other stakeholders.” Sources revealed that, the education department would finalise the evaluation modalities in case the cabinet recommendation gets approved in the meeting with the stakeholders.
