Assam Cabinet meeting to be held in Silchar on 31 May

May 3: Since the taking over of the reigns of administration by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government, a trend has been set to hold cabinet meetings outside Dispur. Till now, 3 such cabinet meetings were held outside Dispur. The 3rd cabinet meeting was held in Haflong on 19 January, 2022. During the meeting, it was decided that the state government will hold the next cabinet meeting at Silchar in the month of March, 2022. However, the cabinet meeting supposed to be held in Silchar in the month of March was deferred.

However, as per sources, during the cabinet meeting held in Guwahati on 3 May, 2022, it was decided that the next cabinet meeting outside the state capital will be held in Silchar on 31 May, 2022.

Earlier, when the Assam government decided to hold a cabinet meeting in Silchar, Cachar district administration had geared up to renovate the Circuit house and office of the Deputy Commissioner. Both the the Circuit House and the office of the Deputy Commissioner have underwent a face-lift.
