As part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Assam govt to change names of many roads, villages & localities

Dec. 19: Renaming has been a characteristic feature of BJP governments in various states under their regime. Assam Housing & Urban Affairs minister Ashok Singhal recently informed that as part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, names of many roads, villages and localities in Assam are likely to be renamed very soon. As per sources, Deputy Commissioners will be entrusted the task of renaming on the basis of suggestions given by the public. For this, the state government is likely to launch a portal for seeking suggestions from the general public for change of names of any particular road, village or locality.
