Around 92 percent journalists vaccinated in Tripura
June 18: In a proactive step, the Agartala Press Club has played an important part in arrangement of Covid vaccine doses for majority of the journalists of the state. The Tripura government being persuaded by the Agartala Press club has so far inoculated around 92 percent of the journalists in Tripura with the Covid vaccine. This was confirmed by a state government official on Friday.
Agartala Press Club Secretary Pranab Sarkar said that besides vaccination to the media persons, regular sanitisations are being done to all the print and electronic media houses in Tripura. The Agartala Press Club, the apex body of the media organisations in Tripura, in collaboration with the state’s health department has so far organised four special vaccination camps while special such camps were also held in all the districts across the state.
Sarkar, who is also the National Secretary of the Indian Journalist Union, said that so far two journalists were succumbed to the deadly disease and 30 journalists infected by the contagious virus. However, all of them recovered from the disease.
He said that face masks, sanitizers, PPE kits and gloves were given to the journalists of all the eight districts in the state. One more special Covid vaccination camp would be held in the Agartala Press Club to vaccinate the remaining journalists. The Tripura chapter of the Indian Medical Association helped the Agartala Press Club in the inoculation.
