Army, NDRF enters Bilpar & Public School Road with motor boats for rescue operation
June 20: From Monday morning, several parts of both urban and rural Silchar were submerged. Meanwhile, among others places in Silchar, Bilpar and Public School Road were perhaps the worst suffers. At these two places, the water level is almost 6 feet in average.
Flood water has entered the ground floor of the houses in these two localities. The same phenomenon was also noticed in others parts of the town.
The small shops set up at the entrance of Public School Road were all washed away like a pack of cards by the rushing water. The speed at which the water was flowing is enough to misjudge the roads as river in flood.
Meanwhile, at around 2.15 PM NDRF personnel entered into Public School Road and rescued several persons from Shyamananda Ashram Road. The Indian Army also jumped into action over here along with motor boats and set to rescue operation. Even personnel of Fire & Emergency services were spotted at various places of the town.
The Army also carried out rescue operation at certain parts of Bilpar and Radhamadhab Road. The water level in these places were constantly increasing.
