Application process for CUET for admission in UG courses to start from 2 April
March 29: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has appealed to public universities under state governments, colleges and private universities to adopt the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admitting students in undergraduate programmes from the 2022-23 academic session.
A week ago, the UGC had announced that all central universities will have to admit students to undergraduate courses based on the CUET and not Class 12 marks, a rule that will come into force from the upcoming academic year (2022-23). The National Testing Agency on Sunday announced that the application process for the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate courses will open from April 2 and until April 30. The computer-based and Multiple choice question format test is being introduced this year to determine all admissions across 45 central varsities.
A letter was also sent to vice-chancellors of all universities and college principals Sunday, urging them to make use of CUET scores for admission, so that all institutions use a single platform instead of opting for multiple tests. UGC wants universities “register themselves on the portal and prominently display on their website that students will get admission on the basis of the CUET score”.
