APDL & Club Oasis distribute relief to around 500 poor & needy
April 19: The outbreak of coronavirus has brought life to a standstill. The 21 days lockdown was further increased by 19 days which will end on 3 May, 2020. This has rendered many people jobless especially the dily wage earners are without work and money to sustain their family. Though governmment is helping but that is not enough. Many individuals, NGOs, organisations, business establishments have now come forward to help the poor and needy. On Sunday morning, renowned construction company Assam Progressive Developers Limited (APDL) in collaboration with Club Oasis distributed essential food commodities among the disadvantaged class.
In this connection, APDL and Oasis gave away tokens to the needy persons the previous day. On Sunday morning, maintaining the norms of social distancing, the members of Oasis and APDL distributed the relief materials. Around 500 poor people were given the food packets which comprised of rice, dal, potato, onion, mustard oil, and salt. Policemen also were invited to hand over the relief materials. The materials were distributed at Public School Road, Silchar.
Speaking to way2barak, Kishore Saha said, “Today we from APDL are distributing the relief materials in Ward No.12 in collaboration with Club Oasis. Many people are without work after the coronavirus pandemic. We will be giving the relief today to about 500 persons. We know this is not enough, but we are trying our best to help the people as far as possible at this hour of crisis.”
Expressing his view, Bidhan Chandra Roy, President of Club Oasis said, “Everywhere people are now locked inside the houses. There is no work. Those who are daily wage earners are finding it very difficult to lead their life. So we along with APDL have tried our best to help the people by giving them food materials.” Similar view was also expressed by Sribas Saha, Secretary of Club Oasis.
