APDCL recruitment: Assam Power Minister says no re-examination
April 30: In the face of protests made by the State Congress regarding conduct of fresh examination for recruitment in Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), Assam Power Minister Topon Kumar Gogoi categorically denied re-examination. The APDCL conducted written examination for appointment in the posts of grade III and grade IV on last Sunday.
Apart from Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) several students bodies and candidates too demanded fresh examination after reports of paper leakage surfaced. However, Topon Gogoi said that the question of re-examination doesn’t arise. He further said, “The culprits have been nabbed. Six candidates in six examination centres in Assam were behind the entire episode.” The Power Minister asserted that in other centres the exam went on without any hassle. He further assured the candidates that the answer scripts would be evaluated with utmost care and they need not worry.
On Sunday, as many as 2 lakh 35 thousand students appeared for the written examination conducted by APDCL in almost all districts of Assam. The said exam began at 10 AM. Inspite of all precautions and strict security, the question paper of the exam was reportedly leaked on social media on Sunday minutes after students began writing the examination.
Debabrata Saikia, Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly urged upon Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to conduct a fresh examination for vacant posts under the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), in view of serious irregularities marring the written examination which was held on Sunday.
