April 28: It’s indeed a setback for the job aspirants of Assam. Students who seriously prepared and appeared for the written selection test for the post of Office cum Field Assistant & Sahayak Posts for Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) on Sunday were taken by surprise when news started to flow in about leakage of question paper in social media. It’s not the first time that such an incident occurred in the state. Irregularities were also reported in the recent past in the recruitment examination of the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department.

On Sunday, as many as 2 lakh 35 thousand students appeared for the written examination conducted by APDCL in almost all districts of Assam. The said exam began at 10 AM. Inspite of all precautions and strict security, the question paper of the exam was reportedly leaked on social media on Sunday minutes after students began writing the examination.

Even when the examination was underway, pictures of the question paper went vital in whatsapp and other social media platforms. A number of Facebook users also alleged the use of mobile phones inside the examination centres. The incident has created quite an uproar with agitated candidates blaming the half-hearted preparation by the state government in maintaining secrecy. Reports of an uproar came from Nagaon Bengali Girls’ High School, where the examination was going on.

Speaking to way2barak, a candidate who appeared in the exam at Public H.S. School, Silchar said, “This is an unsettling development as it will be a huge setback for the honest students who prepared hard to crack the exam.” Another job aspirant who appeared in the exam from Radhamadhab College, Silchar appeared to be very frustrated and said, “There are almost no new jobs in the market. Over and above, when I learnt that the question paper was leaked, it was indeed very disheartening.
