Anti-institutional activities of Ananda Ghosh has crossed all limits, alleges Principal Cachar College
Oct. 7: Caught on the flip side, Cachar College, one of the pristine educational institutions of Southern Assam has been in the news for quite a long time for reasons which would obviously be not palatable to the academic coterie. The much controversial episode regarding the study centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) at Cachar College hit the headlines on 2018-19. After almost a year later, certain ugly developments within the college have brought things to a standstill once again.
On Wednesday, speaking to the media, Dr. Siddhartha Shankar Nath, Principal of Cachar College came up with a bag full of allegations against Ananda Chandra Ghosh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. “Things have crossed all limits in Cachar College. The non-teaching staff of the college have gone for pen-down since last Monday. In a written letter to the Principal, the non-teaching staff of the college alleged that Ananda Chandra Ghosh blatantly insulted Simanta Bhattacharjee, Member of the Governing Body of the College in front of them. I have also checked the same in the CCTV recording. We really felt very insulted. For this one man, the entire non-teaching fraternity of the college has resorted to pen-down.”
Dr. Siddhartha Shankar Nath was quick to mention, “Though I do not support moves like pen-down, but at the same time, I would like to appreciate the sense of love, affection and responsibility towards the college exhibited by the non-teaching staff of the college.”
“This is not the only incident by Sri Ananda Chandra Ghosh where he has humiliated the larger Cachar college fraternity as a whole. He has exhibited such unconstitutional behaviour with many others. I am not going into the details of these now. Around 3 months ago, the Governing Body of the College in its meeting took cognizance of the activities of Sri Ghosh. A detailed report in this connection was also sent to the Director of Higher Education (DHE), Assam, which is still under her consideration,” asserted the Principal.
In a tone of utmost dissatisfaction, Dr. Siddhartha Shankar Nath said, “The way Ananda Chandra Ghosh is behaving in the college, I would be compelled to term this as anti-institutional activity. And this has now crossed all barriers. It is no more possible to bear such activities. I am really very frustrated. If things continues in this note, then ateast I do not foresee any bright future of Cachar College.”
The Principal of Cachar College further informed that a meeting of the Governing Body has been convened at 2 PM on Thursday where this issue will be discussed at length once again. He said, “We may again approach the DHE Assam. But really we all are extremely frustrated by the continuous misbehaviour of Ananda Chandra Ghosh.”
