Another big wicket down for Congress; Kapil Sibal quits party
Sibal files Rajya Sabha nomination as independent with backing of Samajwadi Party Samaj
May 25: It’s probably the biggest loss of Congress this year. Veteran leader and former HRD and law minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday joined the growing list of leaders quitting the Congress. He filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate with the support of the Samajwadi Party in the presence of SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Kapil Sibal said after filing nomination of Rajya Sabha that he is no longer a Congress leader and that he had resigned from the Congress Party on May 16. He said, “I’ll not say anything about Congress. I’ve resigned, so it’s not appropriate for me to say anything about Congress. It’s not easy to leave a relationship of 30-31 years.”
