Another Assam Police jawan dies due to bullet injury at Silchar Medical College
July 27: In a sad turn of events, another policeman lost his life to the bullet injury at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Tuesday. This was informed in a tweet by state Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. Shyamprasad Dusat of 6th AP Batallion received bullet injuries on Monday when Mizo forces opened fire. On Monday, 5 jawans of Assam Police lost their lives. Shyamprasad Dusat is the 6th one to die in the incident. The 5 policemen who lost their lives on Monday were:
- Sub Inspector Swapan Kr Roy
- Cn Liton Suklabaidya (PSO of SP)
- Cn M.H. Barbhuyia
- Cn N Hussain
- Cn S Barbhuiya

Taking to his twitter handle, CM Dr Sarma wrote, “I am sad to inform that Shyamprasad Dusat of 6th AP Bn has succumbed to his abdominal bullet injury at SMCH. He couldn’t be operated or moved to Guwahati because of his worsening condition. I salute the brave martyr and bow in reverence. My heartfelt condolences to the family.”

On Tuesday, the bullet ridden SP of Cachar was airlifted to Mumbai. Two more Assam Police jawans, Asit Das and Gopeswar Singha were taken by another air ambulance to Guwahati. But Shyamaprasad Dusat who too was injured due to bullet in his abdomen could not be moved to Guwahati because of his worsening condition. Ultimately, he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday at SMCH.
