“Kaun hai yeh jisne dobara mudh ke mujhe nahi dekha? Who is he?” Kareena Kapoor in K3G.
Pooja, affectionately and popularly known as Poo in Karan Johar’s mega family drama film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…(2001), was brilliantly portrayed by superstar Kareena Kapoor as a confident, vivacious, and modern young woman. Poo is an ultra-modern diva studying in London.
She exudes charm and has a magnetic personality that draws people towards her. Poo is self-assured and unapologetically flaunts her femininity, often seen in her stylish attire and glamorous demeanour. She is outgoing and outspoken, not afraid to speak her mind or assert herself, which sometimes comes off as arrogant or entitled to others. Poo shares a close bond with her family members. She values relationships and is fiercely loyal to those she cares about. However, both Anjali and Pooja face shift to London after their father (Alok Nath) dies and Rahul (played by Shah Rukh Khan) marries Anjali without his father’s (Amitabh Bachchan) consent. This creates tension within the family. Throughout the film, Poo undergoes significant character development.
Initially, she is depicted as a materialistic and shallow individual, prioritising superficial aspects of life such as wealth and status. However, as the story progresses, Poo matures and learns valuable lessons about love, humility, and the importance of family. Her interactions with Rahul (portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (portrayed by Kajol) help her recognise the deeper meaning of relationships beyond superficiality. In fact, she helps Rohan (played by Hrithik Roshan) bring Rahul back to his home. In this process, they (Rohan and Pooja) fall in love. Poo’s character serves as a catalyst for both comedic relief and emotional depth in the film. Her memorable dialogues and iconic persona contribute to the overall entertainment value of the movie. Additionally, her transformation from a brash and materialistic girl to a more mature and compassionate individual adds depth to the narrative and reinforces the film’s central themes of love, family, and acceptance. In summary, Pooja ‘Poo’, portrayed by Kareena Kapoor, is a dynamic and memorable character in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” Her confident demeanour, sharp wit, and eventual growth throughout the film make her a significant and impactful part of the story. Poo is definitely an unforgettable character in K3G.
