Among 29 states, Assam ranks 27th in overall development: NITI Aayog

July 2: In terms of overall development, Assam has ranked 27th out of 29 states of the country. This came to the forefront according to a report published by NITI Aayog recently. Bihar ranked 28th just after Assam, whereas the last position went to Uttar Pradesh. In terms of overall development, Himachal Pradesh topped the list.

Even much smaller states like Manipur and Mizoram were also marked much ahead of Assam. Manipur got 12th position, whereas Mizoram secured 13th position. According to the report, Assam lagged far behind in terms of development in many fields, such as, health, poverty eradication, power education, gender equality, sanitation, water supply, economic growth etc.
