Amit Shah proposes scrapping of Article 370 from J & K, President approves it

August 5: After a high voltage suspense centering Jammu & Kashmir since the last 24 hours, Home Minister Amit Saha proposed to abrogate Article 370 in the Rajya Sabha in Monday morning.

Amit Shah made a historic announcement, when he said that Article 370 which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir will be scrapped.

The BJP had promised to scrap this article in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile a Presidential order to this effect has been released.

Amit Shah also announced that the Jammu and Kashmir will be a new Union Territory and no longer a state. “Jammu and Kashmir to be a Union Territory with legislature.

Ladakh to be a Union Territory without legislature,” he said. The J&K territory will be one with legislature, while the Ladakh territory will be without legislature.

Earlier there were speculations high that the Government may remove Articles 35A and 370
