Shopkeepers prohibited to display sale items outside shop premises: DC Cachar
May 12: In an order issued by Keerthi Jalli, District Magistrate, Cachar on Tuesday, it was stated that the outbreak of coronavirus is a potentital threat to human life and hence arises the necessity to take immediate preventive steps for containing the spread of the virus & loss of lives in the district. DM Cachar further stated that advisory related to lockdown is not being adhered to by several persons leading to crowd in many places.
District Magistrate Jalli also made it a point to mention that the street vendors and shopkeepers were extending their shops on footpath, which she regarded as a primary reason for such crowded scenario in the streets. It is in this context, that in the capacity of District Magistrate, Keerthi Jalli promulgated the following order:
- No stationary street vendors including vegetable and fruits among others is permitted. However, they are encouraged to deliver at doorsteps to prevent crowding.
- No shopkeeper is allowed to display his/her sale items outside the shop premises.
It was further stated that this order will come into force with immediate effect throughout the district of Cachar and will be valid till further order.
