From Lailapur to Mumbai, former SP of Cachar- Vaibhav Nimbalkar narrates his ordeal

Aug. 29: When life throws you a bouncer, you bounce back! l am immensely grateful to be here well, alive and kicking (well, almost but not quite). I am making great progress in my recovery and cannot thank Shri Satguru, Prahlad dada Pai, mentors, doctors, friends, colleagues, seniors, well-wishers, Jeevanvidya enough for supporting us during this difficult time, praying for us and thinking about my well-being. I am grateful!

I’m eternally grateful to my wife Anuja, parents and family, for enduring this crisis and much more alongside me.

The past month has been a time of contemplation; how at 1 moment you are fine and in the next a bullet has hit you, in 1 minute you’re frantically thinking about ways to stop the madness, in 1 hour you’re being rescued, in 1 day you’re flying to Mumbai for treatment, in 1 week, fully immobilised awaiting your next surgery, in 1 month you’re walking and looking forward to leave the hospital and simply amazed to see where life leads you in 1 year.

Today, a month later, my mind is filled with sincere gratitude and the burning desire to stand, walk, run on my feet again! Thanking you all once again for your prayers, wishes, calls and messages! I may not have been able to respond to many, but I truly appreciate the love.

Vaibhav Nimbalkar sustained bullet injuries during the firing by Mizoram forces on 26 July at Lailapur in Assam- Mizoram border. The bullet embedded Police Super was initially admitted in the ICU at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) from where he was airlifted to Mumbai for better treatment. At present he is admitted at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and is showing signs of improvement. It needs mention here that during the brutal attack by Mizo forces, one of the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Vaibhav Nimbalkar also lost his life in the attack by the Mizo forces along with 6 more Assam Police personnel.

On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, Nimbalkar Vaibhav adjudged for Chief Minister’s Outstanding Service Medal.
