Amid rising COVID-19 cases, Rahul Gandhi cancels all poll rallies in West Bengal
West Bengal Minister and TMC leader Sobhandeb Chatterjee also declared not to hold major rallies
April 18: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday cancelled all his upcoming public rallies in poll-bound West Bengal following a rapid rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. Mr. Gandhi also advised all other politicians to think about the consequences of holding large public rallies. Taking to his twitter handle, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “In view of the Covid situation, I am suspending all my public rallies in West Bengal. I would advise all political leaders to think deeply about the consequences of holding large public rallies under the current circumstances.”

Further during the day, West Bengal Minister and Trinamool leader Sobhandeb Chatterjee said in the backdrop of the spike in coronavirus cases, he would desist from organising any major rallies. He is contesting from Bhowanipore seat. He is the 1st candidate from TMC to have made such a claim.
