All school, college, univ teachers & staff in Assam should do COVID test from 21 to 30 August
Teachers should compulsorily remain standby in their work place from 1 September
August 18: On Tuesday, State Health and Education Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that all teachers and staff employed in schools, colleges and state universities shall have to compulsorily do COVID-19 test in between 21 to 30 August, 2020. Anybody who have done the test prior to 21 August will be required to do test once again within 21 to 30 August. On 1st September, the teachers will have to report to their institutions with negative test report.
Saying so, the minister said that all teachers of schools, colleges and universities must have to compulsorily report to their respective institutions from 1 September onwards and shall have to remain standby in their place of work. An official order in this regard will be issued within a day or two. He said that if anybody violates this norm and remain absent from his/her work place from 1 September shall be treated as ‘leave without pay.’
Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “As education is in concurrent list, so the state government will wait from directions from the central government. The moment, the central government allows reopening of educational institutions,the state government shall issue its own SOP and necessary directions within 24 hours. All teachers of schools, colleges and state universities shall have to stay in station where they are employed from 1 September onwards.”
