All party meeting held in Guwahati, resolved to unitedly fight against COVID-19

April 12: A meeting of all the political parties were held on Sunday in Guwahati. In the said all-party meeting, discussion was held as regards the united fight against the deadly coronavirus. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal thanked all for their wholehearted participation and also for offering constructive suggestions. He tweeted, “Hosted an all-party meeting in Guwahati and discussed our united fight against #COVID19. I thanked them for their participation and valuable suggestions. We are all together in this fight.”

Apart from this, in the all-party meeting, a collective decision was taken to extend heartfelt gratefulness to frontline health workers, police, and all support staff who have displayed exemplary dedication in the battle against COVID-19. CM Sonowal tweeted, “I am glad to share that leaders of all the political parties have taken a joint resolution to thank frontline health workers, security forces & all those who are leading our fight against #COVID19. In this hour of crisis, we are together as #TeamAssam, serving the people.”

The state Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also took to his tweeter handle and wrote, “At an all party meeting convened by HCM @sarbanandsonwal a collective decision was taken to extend our heartfelt gratefulness to frontline health workers, police, and all support staff who have displayed exemplary dedication in our battle against #Covid_19. We remain indebted.”

Former Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader, Tarun Gogoi thanked the state government for convening the all-party meeting wherein his party too offered full support to the government at this hour of crisis. The Congress party is also learnt to have offered certain suggestions.

As per reports, the all-party meeting was followed by a cabinet meeting wherein major decision regarding lockdown and other allied issues were discussed, the details of which will be informed by the state government. However, sources revealed that though Assam would in all probability go for extension of lockdown but at the same time relaxation will be provided for certain services.
