All function halls, private coaching centres ordered closure in Cachar with immediate effect

March 18: To prevent the possibility of outbreak and spread of COVID-19 (corona virus) among the inhabitants of Cachar District and as a precautionary measure considering the gravity of the situation, Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Cachar,  Rajib roy has implemented Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act,2005 in the entire district.

In an order issued by ADC Rajib Roy on Wednesday, certain immediate preventive steps were specified to be followed in letter and spirit within the district of Cachar, which are:

• All the private auditorium hall and function hall of Silchar, Cachar will remain closed with immediate effect until further order.
• It is to inform that all public gatherings in the religious institutions is NOT allowed till 29 March, 2020.
• All private coaching institutes, academy,centers within Cachar District will remain closed with immediate effect until further order.

It was further stated that non-compliance of this order will be dealt strictly under section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 2005. The number of coronavirus cases globally topped 200,000 Wednesday. India is currently positioned in stage 2 of coronavirus outbreak as confirmed cases rise to 137.
