Ajmer Sharif Bus Episode: Result awaited for 8 passengers, cases may rise
May 8: A total of 45 passengers including the drivers of the bus came from Ajmer Sharif to Silchar on 6 May. The incident came to lime light after a passenger of the bus was tested positive. It was then that a hue and cry was raised and the co-passengers were brought from home quarantine and their swabs were collected at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).
Divulging this information during a press briefing at Guwahati on Friday, State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that swab sample was collected of these 45 persons, out of which 33 were negative and 4 tested positive on 7 May. Six swabs were sent to repeat test and samples of 2 persons were collected again. The minister, however, apprehended the possibility that probably a few more of the bus episode may test positive. All 4 who were tested positive are now undergoing treatment at SMCH.
