Airports in Assam including Silchar should get a face lift; CM Assam tells Civil Aviation Minister
Oct. 19: On Tuesday, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma held a virtual meeting with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The Chief Minister thanked the Union Minister during the virtual meet for his initiatives to boost the aviation sector and requested him to start flights from Assam to foreign countries under UDAAN scheme.
Dr Himanta Himanta Biswa Sarma further requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to augment & expand the infrastructure at the existing airports in Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur and Silchar along with building a heliport at Haflong and a greenfield airport in Karbi Anglong. During the video conference, State Cabinet Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary was also present.
