Ahead of the 1st cabinet meeting, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma allocates portfolios

Ajanta Neog becomes 1st female Finance Minister of Assam

May 11: Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. Along with him, 13 other legislators were also sworn-in as designated ministers by the Governor of Assam. Later on, during a press conference, the new Chief Minister announced that the 1st cabinet meeting will be held on Tuesday evening. Ahead of the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday allocated portfolios among the 13 Ministers.

Here is full list of the allocated portfolios to the ministers:

  • Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister: Home, Personnel, PWD and another department not allowed to any other Ministers
  • Ranjeet Kumar Das: Panchayat & Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs
  • Atul Bora: Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Border Area Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Cooperation
  • UG Brahma: Handloom & Textile, Soil Conservation, Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes (BTC)
  • Parimal Suklabaidya: Environment & Forests, Fisheries, Excise
  • Ranoj Pegu: Education, Welfare of Plain Tribe and Backward Classes (non BTC)
  • Sanjay Kishan: Welfare of Tea Tribes, Labour & Employment
  • Jogen Mohan: Revenue & Disaster Management, Hills Area Development, Mines & Minerals.
  • Ajanta Neog: Social Welfare, Finance
  • Ashok Singhal: Guwahati Development, Urban Development, Irrigation
  • Chandra Mohan Patowary: Transport, Industries & Commerce, Skill Development, Welfare of Minorities
  • Keshab Mahanta: Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology, Information Technology
  • Pijush Hazarika: Water Resources, Information & Public Relations, Parliamentary Affairs
  • Bimal Bora: Sports & Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs, Power, Tourism
