After multiple surgeries, former SP Vaibhav Nimbalkar injured by Mizo bullets back to his feet
Aug. 11: “Slow and steady wins the race! Look who can’t wait to triumph on the field again,” wrote Anuja Vaibhav wife of former Superintendent of Police, Vaibhav Nimbalkar, IPS along with a photograph of her husband trying to stand on his feet with the help of a walker in her Instagram.
Vaibhav Nimbalkar sustained bullet injuries during the firing by Mizoram forces on 26 July at Lailapur in Assam- Mizoram border. The bullet embedded Police Super was initially admitted in the ICU at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) from where he was airlifted to Mumbai for better treatment. At present he is admitted at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and is showing signs of improvement. It needs mention that on 5 August, Vaibhav Nimbalkar underwent a second successful internal fixation surgery at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai for his hip fractures. However, some minute shell fragments still could not be removed from his body, but otherwise, he was recovering fast.
It needs mention here that during the brutal attack by Mizo forces, one of the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Vaibhav Nimbalkar also lost his life in the attack by the Mizo forces along with 6 more Assam Police personnel.
