After many unsuccessful attempts, finally Misbaul Islam from INC wins in Barkhola

May 2: Since resigning from the Congress on the issue of being deprived of party ticket, Misbaul Islam Laskar failed to win the race to Dispur as an independent candidate from Barkhola. Finally, in 2021 Assembly Elections, he got back to his old party and was successful in securing a ticket for him from the Congress for the Barkhola seat. On Sunday, after the counting of votes got over, Misbaul Islam Laskar finally won the electoral battle.

Misbaul Islam Laskar got 64,433 votes as against 57,402 votes secured by his nearest candidate BJP’s Amalendu Das. The 3rd position in Barkhola was bagged by NOTA (1,105). Mr Islam won by a margin of 7,031.
