After Cachar, local holiday on Holi declared in Karimganj district on 19 March

March 16: Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav on Wednesday declared Local Holiday on 19 March, 2022 (Saturday) throughout the district of Karimganj in connection with the Holi Festival excepting the offices(s) having essential/ emergent nature of services.

The order further stated that “All Central/ State Government Offices including Revenue & Magisterial Courts, Educational Institutions and Financial Institutions will remain closed on that day. This declaration is also made under the N.I. Act, 1881(Central Act XXVI of 1881) read with the Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs Notifications No. 20-25/26/ Pub-I, Dated 08/06/1957. Further, the holding of the on-going H.S.L.C./ H.S.S.L.C. Examination and any Examinations conducted by various Boards/ Council /Universities or any kind of recruitment Examination / Written Test / Interviews shall not be affected by this order and the same shall be held as per the programme fixed by the Boards/ Council/ Department etc.”

Earlier during the day, a similar notification declaring local holiday in Cachar district on 19 March was issued by Deputy Commissioner Keeerthi Jalli.  In an order issued on 16 March, DC Jalli stated, “In exercise of powers conferred vide Assam Government October, 2021. the undersigned is pleased to declare a local holiday under N.I. Act on 19th March, 2022 throughout the District of Cachar in connection with the Dol Jatra/ Holi Festival.”

The other further stated, “All the State Government Offices including Revenue & Magisterial Courts, Education institutions, Financial institutions will remain closed on that day. The Holiday will not affect emergency services and all duties and Services related to various kinds of Examinations/ Written Test/ Interviews etc. ancillary services related thereto.
